Fall’s here, and if your Daly City fireplace hasn’t been swept since last winter, now’s the time to act. Creosote buildup from summer humidity and occasional use turns into a fire hazard fast, especially with Daly City’s damp coastal air. We’re booked solid through October, so call now for a sweep or inspection before the first cold front. Here’s what to watch for in your chimney, and how to book fast.
What Daly City’s Damp Fall Weather Does to Your Chimney (And Why It’s Worse Than You Think)
Daly City’s fall mix of coastal fog and occasional rain creates the perfect storm for chimney trouble. Moisture seeps into creosote buildup, turning it from a dry powder into a sticky, flammable tar. If your fireplace smokes more than usual when lit, or you notice a strong chemical smell, that’s not just ‘old wood’, it’s a warning sign. Our crews see this every year in neighborhoods near the Dumbarton Bridge, where homes with older masonry chimneys are most at risk. A quick inspection can catch this before it becomes a fire hazard. And if you’ve got a wood stove, the problem moves faster, creosote hardens quicker with frequent use. Book now before the holiday rush hits.
